Field Day 2008

Members of the Rip VanWinkle Amateur Radio Society participated in the Ham Radio Field Day. Saturday June 28 thru Sunday June 29, at the Greenport Park.   Nationwide, Field Day begins at 2PM on Saturday and ends at 2PM on Sunday, straight thru, 24 hours.  Many members were on the air all night.  The event takes place once per year, and is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, which is the official Ham Radio organization.  The first 6 photos are before 2PM on Saturday, all set up and ready to go.  The rest of the photos are at the conclusion on Sunday afternoon.

The idea is to contact as many other ham stations in the US as you can, make a log of your confirmed contacts, and send it in to the ARRL, which will compile and publish all the results nation-wide.

Time to take down the big antenna.
